However, FileVault 2 doesn't encrypt home folders individually, so the second admin account would allow all data on the machine to be accessed. One idea is to create a new admin account for potential repair use and save the credentials. I'm setting up a new Mac and wanted to prepare now in case it ever needs repair while inoperable. I'd do that whenever possible, but it's only possible if the machine is still operable. My preferred solution is to wipe the machine and do a fresh install before sending it in. For obvious reasons, I'm uncomfortable with that, and a search shows I'm not alone. Apple requests an admin username and password whenever you send a machine in for repair.
